About
Built on five years of doing this the hard way, in person.
OpsMastery Summit is a practitioner conference for the people who run SaaS at scale, and it started with a community, not a product.
The origin
How this started
For five years, I founded and ran Salt Lake City DevOps Days, sat on a rotating volunteer board of 10 to 15 people, and took on the Sponsor, Website, and Sponsor Liaison roles more years than not. We landed keynotes including Carmen DeArdo, and ran community workshops like “Building a DevOps Culture”, because the goal was never just filling seats for a day. It was building a community that stuck around year over year.

Salt Lake City DevOps Days, organized by Jason Vance, the community OpsMastery Summit grows from.
The thesis
“DevOps was never really about the tools. It was the community that formed around trying to run things well together. OpsMastery Summit points that same instinct at every operational discipline in a large SaaS company: observability this year, incident management, platform engineering, security, and FinOps in editions to come.”
The format
Two and a half days, built to go from learning to doing. Day zero (Tuesday, May 11) is a half-day of hands-on workshops, one per track, where you instrument and debug real systems. Then come two full days (May 12 and 13) of keynotes, technical deep dives, panels, and breakouts. Practitioners teaching practitioners, not a trade-show floor with a stage bolted on.
Why Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City is a growing tech hub with room to host a national-caliber event without a coastal-city price tag. It's also home: five years of DevOps Days here taught me exactly what this community shows up for.
